Simon Brew Jun 19, 2017

Michael Bay 's not involved in the upcoming Bad Boys For Life - but he does think they should get a move on.

After two extremely successful instalments, you’d think that all parties involved would be rushing to make another outing, but that hasn’t been the case. A glimmer of hope appeared when Joe Carnahan signed on to write and direct not too long ago, but he’s since departed the project and it’s now back in limbo.

There hasn’t been a substantial update in quite a while and at this point, it’s starting to look like the film will never get made. Even if it does manage to materialize at some point, it’s important to keep in mind that stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are only »

Joe Carnahan Exits ‘Bad Boys For Life’

With the movie recently pushed back, and Joe Carnahan getting hot on his remake of “The Raid ,” perhaps the writing was on the wall for this next bit of news.

THR reports that the director has exited the forever developing “Bad Boys For Life .” Depending on who you ask, scheduling conflicts or creative differences are to blame, and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Bad Boys 3: Director Joe Carnahan Drops Out

Bad Boys 3 (a.k.a. Bad Boys for Life) has had a winding road of development. For nearly ten years it’s been on the back burner, and while not many folks were clamoring for another sequel, every so often we’d get a promise that, “yes, it’s still happening.” A couple years back, we even got Joe Carnahan on board to write and direct the film. We even got a nice, shiny release date of February 17, 2017 (so, last month). Since then, the film has been pushed back twice, with the latest release date revealed as November 9, 2018.

Over the course of the development of the film, Carnahan got himself attached a surprising number of other properties. In addition to scribing the Uncharted screenplay, he was revealed to be on board to direct the American Raid remake, as well as co-write (and potentially direct) and X-Force movie. His plate started to get so full, »

Newswire: Joe Carnahan has dropped out of directing the third Bad Boys, as he is wont to do

It appears that the dream of a Joe Carnahan -directed Bad Boys movie has gone the way of all Joe Carnahan projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer-director has dropped out of helming Bad Boys For Life. possibly for the same reason why Carnahan usually drops out of projects: “creative differences.” The studio is still hoping to start filming the long-delayed sequel to Michael Bay ’s dumbest movie in the fall to meet a November 8, 2018 release date.

Over the years, Carnahan has developed an enviable portfolio of unrealized projects, including a revisionist remake of Death Wish (he doesn’t have kind words for Eli Roth ’s more straightforward version), an adaptation of James Ellroy ’s White Jazz. and a film based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon ’s comics series Preacher. since made into an AMC series. His last theatrical release was 2011’s The Grey —a great.

Bad Boys 3 just can't seem to catch a break. The movie has been trying to get off the ground for years, and every time it seems like the movie gains some momentum, something pushes against it. Bad Boys 3, whatcha gonna do? Find a new director apparently

It was revealed last month that Bad Boys 3 – titled Bad Boys For Life – hit a snag in the road when it was taken off the production schedule and pushed back to November 2018. Although the date had been pushed back, it’s now been reported that its director has left the project entirely.

The story comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who have sources who told them Joe Carnahan has either left the film over scheduling conflicts or the dreaded “creative differences”. Carnahan is a very busy man at the moment, developing an American remake of The Raid as well as joining X-Force and writing the Uncharted movie adaptation, and Bad Boys For Life star Will Smith has been linked to Disney’s Dumbo remake. But could it be creative differences?
